Attendance Policy
STUDENT ARRIVAL
Students arriving prior to 7:08 a.m. should enter the building using the side entrance to the auxiliary gym NOT the main entrance. Door#5, the student arrival entrance is located off the bus loop by the tennis courts. The entrance has been established for supervision and security reasons. The only exceptions are if a student has a pre-arranged meeting or activity scheduled. Those students may use the main entrance. In addition, walkers and riders should not arrive on campus prior to 7:08 a.m. Please assist us with student arrival by adhering to and reviewing this procedure with your child. Any student reporting to school after 7:28 A.M. is to use the front door only and report immediately to the late desk located in the Main Lobby or Main Office (after 7:28 A.M.).
ATTENDANCE
Attendance Line: 484-927-5262 or
[email protected]
Phoenixville Area Middle School is in session from 8:00 A.M. to 2:55 P.M. Consistent and on time attendance is vital for success. Attendance is governed by applicable PASD School Board Policy and Pennsylvania State Law, and it is the responsibility of the parent to ensure compliance. Please follow ALL of these procedures for student absence.
1. Call the attendance line to report your child's absence at 484-927-5262
2. Send in a written note within 3 days of your child’s return. Excuses will be accepted by email only when sent to:
[email protected]
3. Present a doctor’s note in order to excuse absences for three or more consecutive days (Signed notes must be
received within 3 days of the absence or the absence is recorded as unlawful)
4. Turn notes into the late desk by 8:00 a.m. or to the main office at any time.
An accumulation of three (3) unlawful absences will result in a final notice of unlawful absence. If absences persist, a Student Attendance Improvement Plan (SAIP) will be developed. Any student who is habitually truant is subject to disciplinary and legal interventions including the filing of a citation with the Magisterial District Justice and a possible referral to the county Children and Youth agency.
